Good news for the International students who study in Western Australia.
The State Nomination Migration Program (SNMP), under the Graduate Stream will now be easier for 491/190 visas for WA graduates.
On 16 October 2019 Premier Mark McGowan announced the following changes to be implemented in December 2019:
-
Extension of the SNMP to the vocational education and training graduates:
The SNMP will be extended to include vocational education and training graduates who complete a qualification in Western Australia at Certificate III level or above. Trade occupations will only be included if approved for delivery to international students.
-
Two years study requirement:
In order to satisfy the two years study requirement in Western Australia, all of the following studies will count:
- Higher education
- Vocational education and training
- English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS).
-
Work experience and job offer requirements:
Work experience and job offer requirement will also be reduced for the WA graduates. Masters, Bachelors and diploma/certificate III students will either be required to obtain a 6 months work contract or provide evidence that they have worked for 6 months in their selected occupation. This means no more 12 months work requirement from December 2019, which was a big hurdle for many of the graduates.
This is a big victory especially for the Bachelor degree and diploma/certificate III graduates.
