For the general skilled migration visas (189, 190 and 489) the upper age limit is 44 years at the time of Invitation. For the employer nominated visas (186 an 187) the upper age limit for doctors is currently 44 years at time of application for the Direct Entry Stream and 49 years at time of application for the Temporary Residence Transition Stream. Age exemptions exist for doctors who hold 457 visas. More information on the current age exemptions is provided on our website here
In Australia, there’s no strict age limit for doctors applying for permanent residency. Different visa pathways exist, like skilled migration or sponsored visas, each with its own requirements. While age matters in the points system, medical practitioners often get exemptions due to their longer training. Best bet? Check with a migration agent or the Department of Home Affairs for personalised advice.
