Are you intending to apply for a 457 visa before March 2018?

This questionnaire is not applicable to you. If are interested in other Permanent Residence pathways, please Contact Us
To apply for a 457 visa, your occupation must be on the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STOL) or the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

Which list is your occupation on?

Will your current 457 visa expire before you have been with your current employer in your current role* for less than 2 years?

To apply for a new 457 visa or a new Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa, your occupation must be on the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STOL) or the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

Which list is your occupation on?

Will you have been with your current employer in your current role* for more than 2 years before March 2018?

*NOTE: For the purposes of the Temporary Residence Transition Stream, your "current role" means that the occupation nominated for permanent residence must be in the same 4 digit occupation unit group code as the 457 approved occupation - for instance the Unit Group 3312 contains :

  • 331211 Carpenter and Joiner

  • 331212 Carpenter

  • 331213 Joiner

So if your occupation was 331212 Carpenter, you could be nominated for permanent residence as a 331213 Joiner or 331211 Carpenter and Joiner
